Winter Concert returns to the Quick Center

Fairfield Prep’s Music Department held its Annual Winter Concert on  Jan. 12, 2022. The performance included selections performed by ensembles that represent the entire music department at Fairfield Prep: String Orchestra, Select Choir, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazzuits, Blues Band, and the Combined Symphonic Orchestra.

The theme for the concert was “All Things New” in Christ, as the school is celebrating the 500th Anniversary of St. Ignatius’s Conversion. In music classes, a focus of the first semester was to see “All Things New.” In other words, to take every moment and every opportunity at face value, to be creative, and to see all things with a new perspective. Students challenged themselves as members of a ensemble: re-learning how to perform with a group, harnessing talent and skills need for success, and building relationships along the way.

Music Director Dan Horstmann expressed his pride with his students' performances: "Tonight’s performance of the repertoire is truly a testament to their hard work, dedication, and passion for music. Every moment the students spend in rehearsal provides them with a unique opportunity to learn more about music and to connect with one another as musicians. I have seen great work this semester and I am proud of the students."
