Dear Prep Families,
I hope that this message finds you and your families well during this challenging time for all of us. I continue to be impressed by the work our students and faculty are doing through online learning and remote work environments, which is critical to ensuring future success for our students. Thank you for your partnership.
Prep has been a member of the University's Preparedness Response Task Force. Since January, this team has been monitoring national, state, and local developments around the clock. As a result of significant measures put in place by the Governor this weekend, Fairfield University extended online learning for the remainder of the spring semester.
Prep's school calendar and locality of our students allows us a bit more flexibility. Fairfield Prep remains optimistic that Prep students will physically return to campus this semester. However, the Governor's latest order has put into place restrictions on workplace environments and social gatherings through April 22.
Therefore, Prep will target a return date of Monday, April 27. This continues to be subject to state and local measures. Except for a small number of essential employees, the majority of Prep faculty and staff are working remotely. No matter where we are, we are committed to ensuring your sons receive the very best that Jesuit education has to offer.
Please keep in mind the following dates when no classes will be held:
- Monday, March 30: Bishop's Holiday
- Friday, April 10: Good Friday
- April 11 - 19: April Vacation. All offices and operations will shut down this week.
Again, our goal is to seamlessly transition back to normal operations as soon as feasible. Your help at home has been vital to ensuring students remain on schedule, in dress code, and engaged in productive learning. Please do not hesitate to contact any of us at Prep should you have questions or suggestions. We are all learning together.
Sincerely,
Fr. Thomas M. Simisky, S.J.
President
