By his enthusiastic engagement in the mission of Fairfield Prep Timothy Wong ‘23 has been awarded the Phillip A. Lauria Scholarship. Through the generosity of the Lauria Family and in the name of the Phillip A. Lauria of the Prep Class of 2005, this scholarship was established in Phil’s memory. Phil was a true “Man for Others" who lived and learned with integrity, ethics, kindness, religious values and respect for others, as Tim has in his Prep years.

Tim Wong has been an extraordinary student and a distinguished school and community leader during his four years at Fairfield Prep. He graduated with magna cum laude honors and as a well-recognized member of the Prep Class of 2023, one who gave himself fully to the Prep community. Many recognitions highlight Tim’s scholarship including his membership in the National Honor Society. He was honored at graduation, receiving the St. John Berchmans, S.J. Award as a young man whose faith has led to him to become a person of conscience and compassion in service to the people of God.

In Prep’s Campus Ministry program, Tim served as Freshman Retreat leader and then Co-Director of the annual Freshman Retreat, coordinating 300 participants and leaders in this essential mission activity. He has been a stalwart member of Prep Players, acting in a number of Prep’s dramatic productions, a member of Prep’s Ethics Bowl team, an active leader in Campus Ministry and Student Government, as well as a member of Prep’s Math Team, Film and Media Club and Debate Club. Tim also served as Co-Chairman of Prep’s Environmental Club and provided peer tutoring through the NHS and the Spanish Honor Society. He additionally served as tour guide and assisted at school events like Open House, where he was a frequent featured speaker. In the community outside of the Prep campus, Tim volunteered at New Covenant House where he visited weekly to prepare and serve meals to the unhoused and underserved in his community.

Tim lives in Stamford and is a member of Holy Spirit Parish. He will attend the Syracuse University in the fall where he has been accepted to the prestigious Newhouse School of Communication.
