Below is a letter from Prep President Rev. Tom Simisky, S.J., regarding the suspension of school operations on March 12 and March 13. You can also find an FAQ below the email.

Dear Prep Community,

As you know, many of the public and private school systems in our area have closed due to concerns over COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution, Fairfield Prep will temporarily suspend operations on Thursday, March 12, and Friday, March 13, for thorough cleaning and disinfecting. Since academic instruction was not scheduled for the next two days, we feel this is a proactive measure to ensure that all members of the Fairfield Prep community stay as safe and healthy as possible during this evolving health crisis.

Effective immediately:

  • Events for Thursday, March 12, and Friday, March 13, have been postponed, including the Freshman Retreat, the Practice ACT for sophomores, and all athletic training.
  • Although not required by the Health Department, the entire physical plant of the school will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected during the closure.
  • No one will be allowed access to the Prep campus tomorrow, Thursday, March 12.
  •  On Friday, March 13, offices will reopen for staff and administration, and faculty will conduct professional development remotely.

We continue our efforts in preparedness which include:

  • Our Virtual Learning Day on March 5.
  • A live-streamed assembly to each classroom on March 11.
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities for faculty.

In close coordination with Fairfield University, we are actively monitoring all available information and developments regarding COVID-19. We emphasize that there are no cases of COVID-19 at Fairfield Prep. We will keep the Prep community updated as needed.

We appreciate your understanding, trust, and support,

Rev. Thomas M. Simisky, S.J.
President
