Prep Players theater group wins 2 Halo Awards

The Prep Players, Fairfield Prep's theater group, won two Halo Awards for its work in the fall 2017 production, "Peter and the Starcatcher."

The Starcatcher cast as a whole won an award for "Best Props Design And/Or Management." For the show – a prequel to the classic story of Peter Pan - the cast members used found objects from their homes that they turned into swords, spears and ships for the show.

For the same show, Audrey Burns won an award for "Best Female Standout Performance in an Ensemble Play or Musical" for her performance as Molly Aster.

"This year challenged these students to give totally of themselves and commit to each other and the process on a whole new level," said Megan Hoover, Theater Director and Chairman of the Fine Arts Department. "It was truly a privilege to work with such a focused and dedicated group of young people. Their willingness to take risks and push themselves demands that I do the same with them. Their work this year truly cannot be measured by nominations and awards, but this is a wonderful way to recognize their achievements."

The honors were given out during the Halo Awards Ceremony at the Palace Theatre in Waterbury on May 30. During the awards ceremony, Prep Players performed a scene from the recent spring musical, Godspell, which can be viewed here.

In total, the Prep Players earned 14 nominations, including nods for performance, choreography, and original art. (See the full list of nominations below).
