New Science facilities coming to Prep Campus this fall

As the 2019-20 academic year comes to a close, Fairfield Prep is excited to update the Prep community about the exciting campus enhancements that are being constructed for this fall 2020.

Work has already begun on the Barrett Science Center on the fourth floor of Xavier Hall. Thanks to a generous $2.5 million gift from Dr. M. James '60 and April P. Barrett, this new renovation will contain state-of-the-art science suites which combine classroom teaching with laboratory experiments in the subjects of biology and chemistry. The corridors will be active places for continued learning with common/breakout areas for collaboration. Completion is expected by September 2020.

Additionally, construction is beginning on the McLeod Innovation Center, which will be located on the lower level of Xavier Hall. Through the generosity of Chris '73 and Elaine McLeod, this hi-tech center will incorporate the newest ideas and the most up-to-date features which will inspire, facilitate, and support hands-on interactive and collaborative learning. The Center will include maker spaces, a robotics lab, a video production studio, and a flexible presentation and commons area. The new spaces will also support Prep’s Entrepreneurship Institute and will be available for use by many Prep programs and disciplines. Proposed completion is scheduled for 2021.

The Prep Pride Campus Store will have a new home later this year adjacent to front entrance of Arrupe Hall. The new space is being completed, and students, parents, alumni and friends will be able to purchase Prep apparel and gifts by the start of the 2020-21 school year.
