James Murphy '24 raises $13k for special needs hockey program

Multiple Connecticut news organizations have featured and praised James Murphy '24 for his commitment to service and fundraising for the Southern Connecticut Storm Special Hockey Team. 

A rising senior a future varsity hockey captain, Murphy #12 has been a member of the CT Storm organization since his freshman year and has raised over $13k in donations for the Storm through his GoFundMe page. The funds Murphy raised will contribute toward equipment for those participating in the Storm hockey program. Murphy also helped facilitate the Storm's fundraising event on May 21, 2023. 

Southern Connecticut Storm Special Hockey works with children from the age of five through young adulthood with developmental disabilities by teaching skating and hockey skills, life skills, and providing an opportunity for these individuals to play in a team setting on the ice.
