Fairfield Prep announces McLeod Innovation Center, updates to science floor

Fairfield Prep is pleased to announce the creation of the McLeod Innovation Center, an entirely new floor in the ground level of Xavier Hall dedicated solely to technology, science and innovation learning. Through a generous gift from Chris '73 and Elaine McLeod, the McLeod Innovation Center will expand on Prep's already robust offerings in science and mathematics with new advanced spaces equipped with state-of-the-art technologies. McLeod will include a robotics lab, maker spaces, classrooms, video production and a cyber cafe, and will also be the home to Prep's Entrepreneurship Institute.

The McLeod Innovation Center is one of two major projects Prep will undertake in the near future. The other project is a renovation to the fourth floor of Xavier Hall, creating a new science suite with modern classrooms and a common breakout area. The core goals of both projects were developed during a number of brainstorming workshops held at Prep earlier this year, facilitated by architectural and design firm Perkins Eastman.

The McLeod Innovation Center in particular will enhance the learning experience of every Prep student by creating interdisciplinary connections on campus as well as throughout the global community. The concept of innovation is both practical — fostering connections and relationships — and inspirational — driving discovery and global citizenship.
