Prep wins 8th straight SCC Swimming & Diving Championship
Fairfield Prep won its eighth straight Southern Connecticut Conference Boys’ Swimming & Diving Championship on March 1 at the Cheshire Community Pool. Team depth was the winning formula as the Jesuits won just one race the entire meet. With swimmers and divers scoring all the way to 32nd place in each event, the victory was a testament to the hard work of every team member. Diving played a significant role in the outcome as Jake Bowtell ’14 (3rd), Robert McCrory ’15 (10th), Kevin Jimenez-Cowell ’12 (13th) and DJ Rowley ’13 (15th) all placed well.
Fairfield Prep’s final score of 1,347 points outpaced a strong runner-up Amity team (1,131). Notre Dame-West Haven was third (689), Branford placed fourth (631) and Cheshire finished fifth (501.5).
The lone victory on the night came in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Nicholas Wargo '14, Keith Dougherty '12, Bryce Keblish '15 and Connor Davis '15 won with a time of 1:30.05.
