Prep Community remembers Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Black History at Assembly

On January 19, the Prep Community gathered at the Quick Center for the annual Assembly presented by the SEED Diversity Club. The program included violin solos by multi-talented jazz and gospel violinist Kersten Stevens, an inspiring speech by Coast Guard Lieutenant Tim Tilghman, Prep Class of 2000, and an original rap song presentation by Prep students to commemorate black history and achievements. The song was performed by Alexander Decoteau-Fredericks '12, Brendan Bernard '12, John Arnold '14 and Juwan Crawley '12 with lyrics by Mark Giannini P'13. The program was directed by SEED moderators Alecia Watson and Kristin Ancona.

Prep Staff serve at Merton Center on Martin Luther King Jr. Day 

 

On Monday, January 17, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, several faculty and staff members gathered to prepare and serve food at the Thomas Merton Center in Bridgeport. The Thomas Merton Center is a community soup kitchen and day shelter serving the women, men and children of a Greater Bridgeport. Thank you to Ms. Billie Brooks, Mr. Tony Canuel, Mr. Jonathan DeRosa, Fr. William Eagan, S.J., Mr. John Hanrahan, Mr. Bruce Jaffe, Mr. Rich Magdon, Mrs. Nora Magi and her son, Mr. Andy Mancini, Mrs. Kathy Norell and her two daughters, and Mr. Matt Sather for their contributions. Because of their generosity, more than 140 people were able to have a complete meal. This event has been a tradition at Fairfield Prep for about 30 years.
