Prep Latin students join other Connecticut schools for Latin Day
With the gods smiling upon them, twenty-five Latin scholars, accompanied by Koren Mumma and Tim Olmstead, attended the Connecticut Latin Day on May 6th at Holiday Hill. Clad in homemade tunics, students took academic tests, participated in athletic competitions, and attended a variety of classically-themed workshops. Noted chefs Nick Maginsky, James Lanfranchi, and Sebastien Laforest won acclaim in Iron Coquus (Iron Chef). Oliver Dumoulin placed in the Free Throw competition, and Dan Kerrisk won a third prize ribbon for his model of a Roman trireme. The greatest victory, however, was achieved on the Tug of War battlefield as senior Jake Haddon led Sam Anim, Juwan Crawley, and Doug Jackson in the annihilation of all competitors.
