Kevin Stone '15Kevin’s baseball achievements over the past four years at Fairfield Prep have been outstanding, however his leadership and personal excellence have extended well beyond the baseball diamond during his Prep years. Over his baseball career Kevin has distinguished himself in being the first non-senior in Prep history to have been named to the Connecticut High School Coaches’ Association All State Team. He has achieved All-SCC Quinnipiac selection in his sophomore and junior years and All-State selection in his junior year. As a senior Kevin was honored as Prep’s CAS-CIAC Scholar Athlete and as a tribute to his leadership he will be recognized in June for his leadership by the Western Connecticut Military Officers Association as Prep’s recipient of the Young American Award. Kevin is an outstanding student having achieved a 3.8 GPA and in doing so has earned induction into Prep’s National Honor Society. Significantly Kevin’s upward trajectory in the classroom and on the baseball field parallel one another indicating a young man of great focus and desire to excel. Through Campus Ministry, Kevin served junior and senior years as a Freshman Retreat leader, and participated in a Kairos retreat. Additionally, he has contributed to the Prep community as a Peer Tutor and to the wider community through his volunteer efforts at a local community center. As a true scholar athlete, Kevin is fully prepared to meet his next set of challenges at Harvard University where he will begin his collegiate athletic career and continue his academic rise beginning in the fall of 2015.
Matthew Rusin '15
Matt is known well for his determination and for his dedication to Prep’s running program as a member of our Cross Country and Track teams for the past four years. His commitment to personal excellence has led to a strong contribution to these programs and offers insight into Matt’s person as a high achieving young man of principle. Largely because of his dedication to Cross Country and Track and because of the example he sets for others Matt was chosen a Cross Country captain for his senior year. In his academic life Matt is an outstanding student who has grown strong in his academic life through the rising challenges of each year. His 4.0 GPA has qualified Matt for induction into Prep’s National Honor Society and has gained him Summa Cum Laude honors for all of his Prep years. Matt has made room in his busy life for growth in many areas on and off campus having made an outstanding contribution to Prep’s Campus Ministry program as an altar server, eucharistic minister and leader of Prep’s Freshman Retreat. He also participated in Notre Dame Vision and attended a Kairos retreat. He has been a four year member of the Select Choir and a participant in Prep’s Mock Trial program.
