The Class of 1982: A Different Type of Reunion

Alumni from the Prep class of '82 gather every five years for their regular reunions.  A pair of heartbreaking events is bringing them back together on June 6th for a non-traditional reunion.

John Flanagan was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer in November 2008.  John passed away on December 24, 2008 after a brief but heroic struggle.  Classmates traveled from near and far to attend the funeral mass.

John worked with two other members of the class of '82 - Tom Ryan and Chad Jacobs.  Both delivered touching eulogies at John's funeral.  Neither was aware at the time of a different form of cancer developing inside Chad.

Another member of the class, Matt Terry, was discussing these events with two of his sons who are presently enrolled in Prep.  Matt's oldest son JT (FP '11) offered an idea to "re-unite" the class for the Relay for Life.  Matt took this concept to Tom Ryan and the reunion has begun...

Members of the class have formed the "FP Class of 1982" team to honor the memory of John Flanagan and support the fight of Chad Jacobs, and all members of the Prep Community whose lives have been impacted by cancer.  The team will pull an "all nighter" and walk together in the Relay for Life on June 6, 2009 in an effort to help find a cure for cancer.

Anyone can support the team at the following site: http://main.acsevents.org/goto/fp82  Donations can be made in the name of John Flanagan, Chad Jacobs or anyone who has suffered from this horrible disease.
