Quinn Stengrim '23: God gives us the gifts to live our lives to the fullest

On this Wednesday of Holy Week, the reading comes from Isaiah 50:4-9a.

In my opinion, I believe the passage describes confidence in oneself as a byproduct of confidence in God. What does this mean? The Prophet Isaiah suggests that he finds confidence in his voice and in his actions through his unwavering confidence in God’s support for him. Isaiah writes, “Morning after morning, he opens my ear that I may hear; And I have not rebelled, have not turned back.”

God not only gives life, but the confidence and tools to live life as he intended. If we take for granted God’s gifts, we will no longer witness their value.

If we turn to other ideals for protection or confidence, such as a gang or substances, you will stray from God’s gifts to you.

As you go about your day, consider how you accept God’s gifts, thank God for these gifts, and utilize the gifts to their fullest for yours and other’s benefit.

I hope you all have an exceptional day and remain confident in yourself because God has given you countless gifts this day.
