College Counseling Resources

A Distinct, Progressive, and Proven Path

Prep’s College Counselors begin a three-year relationship with our students beginning in their sophomore year.  Each year represents an essential step in personal and intellectual growth and plots a distinct and progressive path toward applications and the final decision steps of senior year.

  • Sophomore year is a year of growing awareness of the steps ahead and of the qualities that colleges value in an applicant.  Students are encouraged to broaden their interests and explore their talents.
  • Junior year is a year of personal and intellectual definition, and as awareness of talents and interests expands, juniors engage in the process of researching and investigating colleges as places to continue their growth beyond their Prep years.
  • Senior year is a year of action and decision, as seniors represent themselves in unique and authentic ways through their applications, interviews, and interactions with college representatives.

Upcoming Visits by College Representatives

Each year, more than one hundred colleges send representatives to Prep to meet with our seniors.  Meeting with college representatives gives seniors a unique opportunity to speak with the person who will likely be the first reader of their application, serve as an ongoing contact during the application period, and determine and demonstrate their interest in a particular college.  Seniors must register in Naviance for these meetings at least 48 hours prior to the visit. If attending the visit involves missing class time, seniors must obtain prior permission from their teacher for release time from class.  Typically, a college rep visit is a 30-minute meeting.
