Dear Parents,

It is with sincere pleasure that I am writing to you with exciting news! In an effort to facilitate the Ignatian global initiative, Fairfield College Preparatory School will be offering a foreign exchange/hosting opportunity for members of our community for the 2017-18 academic year. Students from Überlingen, Germany, and Fairfield, CT, will foster a global awareness through this international experience.

It is not necessary for our students to speak German in order to participate, as all the German students speak English very well. The original exchange relationship has been developed and maintained for 32 years by devoted members of the Ridgefield and Wilton Public Schools in CT and the Überlingen and Ingelheim school systems in Germany. This established foreign exchange and hosting opportunity will provide a valuable platform for Fairfield Prep students to be globally engaged through building a lifetime relationship with a foreign student. If a family takes advantage of the option to host, they are not necessarily committed to traveling to Germany in the summer.

In 2018, Fairfield Prep is looking to accommodate approximately 20-24 students. We are open to providing this experience to female students as well, so if a Fairfield host family has a high school age female sibling, they may also participate. Fairfield Prep is working with German schools that are co-ed. Hosting responsibilities include food, lodging, and transportation for the designated German student for two weeks.

If you are interested in hosting an international student from April 23-May 6, 2018, please fill out the attached form and email it back to kjackson@fairfieldprep.org. There will be an informational meeting in the fall regarding Fairfield Prep’s trip to Germany during June 2018.

First payment due on November 30, 2017

Second Payment due January 24, 2018.

Final Payment due March 4, 2018
