Varsity Ice Hockey

Fairfield Prep Hockey began in 1972 as a club sport.  Since then, Prep Hockey has emerged as a nationally recognized high-school hockey program winning 16 Connecticut state titles. The program is led by Prep teacher and alumnus, Matt Sather who became the program's 4th head coach in 1999.  The program consistently plays the best high-school competition they can find in the Northeast.

Head Coach:  Matt Sather '93

Coach Sather played three years of varsity hockey at Fairfield Prep winning a state title in 1991 and captaining the 1993 team.

He continued his playing career at Amherst College, winning an ECAC East Championship in 1996 and captaining the 1996-1997 squad.

Coach Sather has been on the coaching staff since 1997 and varsity head coach since 1999.  During his tenure as head coach Fairfield Prep teams have captured 9 Division I state titles.

In addition to his responsibilities on the ice, coach Sather serves as a full time member of the English Department, and Assistant Baseball Coach at Fairfield Prep.

Coach Sather resides in Trumbull with his wife Ann and their three children.
