Dr. Thomas de Quesada is named new Fairfield Prep Principal
Dear Fairfield Prep Community,
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Thomas de Quesada will become the next Principal of Fairfield Prep on July 1, 2018. Dr. de Quesada is currently the Dean of Men at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School in Miami, FL. In addition to this role, he teaches Latin American History, annually guides a student group to Peru, chairs the committee for school branding, and directs the campus store. He also served as Director of Development and Alumni Relations, coordinated the Overseas Study Program, taught World History, coached basketball, and moderated the Student Council and Model UN.
Dr. de Quesada brings many talents and is a proven leader with respect to global perspectives, innovative teaching, student affairs, and cura personalis (care for the whole person). After graduating from Belen Jesuit, he went on to earn a B.A. in Political Science from Florida International University. He later completed an M.S. in Management and Administration of Educational Programs, followed by an Ed.D. degree in Educational Technology from Nova Southeastern University.
With 20 years of educational experience at Belen Jesuit, his goal is to lead in a new capacity. Dr. de Quesada is excited to offer Fairfield Prep a vision of leadership driven by his three strengths: the abilities to motivate, communicate, and implement. A passion for Jesuit education has inspired him to serve others. He now considers it an honor to serve the Prep community.
I profoundly appreciate the hard work and prayerful discernment of the Principal Search Committee, chaired by Mr. Gregory Marshall ’73, Special Assistant to the President. In Mr. Marshall’s own words, “The Committee labored diligently to give careful consideration to every one of the many applications that we received from throughout the United States. We were humbled and gratified by the depth of experience, passion, and commitment shown by the candidates who applied. It is a tribute to Dr. de Quesada that he was chosen for this vital role, and it is to Fairfield Prep’s benefit that he has accepted.”
Let me also take this opportunity to thank Dr. Robert Perrotta for his 49 years of service at Fairfield Prep. Dr. Perrotta has been a leader in the Jesuit Schools Network and has worked tirelessly to leave Prep well positioned for the future. We are so grateful for all he has done and for generously assisting in Dr. de Quesada’s transition.
Please help me in welcoming the de Quesada family to our area. Tommy, his wife Margie, and their two children eagerly await the chance to join our community this summer. I have confidently assured them that the Fairfield beaches rival anything that Miami might offer.
