Gift Planning

  • IRA Charitable Rollover
If you are 70 ½ years old or older, you may transfer up to $108,000 per person per calendar year to Fairfield Prep. This transfer must be made directly to Fairfield Prep and may come from a traditional or Roth IRA. The transfer is excluded from the IRA owner’s adjusted gross income, a major tax benefit for those who don’t need the income. We must receive your gift by December 31 for it to qualify for this year. If you have check-writing privileges on your IRA, please mail your check by December 31 to ensure it is processed by year’s end.

  • Donor Advised Fund Deduction Limit
Beginning January 1, 2026, new tax rules will reduce the relative advantage of contributing to donor-advised funds (DAFs). While contributions to DAFs will still qualify for itemized charitable deductions, they will be subject to the new 0.5% AGI floorand the 35% maximum effective deduction rate for high-income taxpayers. In addition, gifts to DAFs will not be eligible for the new above-the-line deduction available to non-itemizers. As a result, many donors may find it more advantageous to make significant contributions to their DAFs before the end of 2025 to take full advantage of the current rules.

  • Bequests
If you have included Fairfield Prep in your estate plan – or plan to do so – please contact our office at advancement@fairfieldprep.org. There is no tax deadline associated with this type of gift.

Why Fairfield Prep

Transformation

"Jesuit education at Fairfield Prep changed the trajectory of my life, and what I want to do now more than anything is to help ensure that the kind of life-changing educational opportunity represented by Prep remains available and accessible long into the future, and I’m grateful to everyone who wants to join that mission. Let’s ensure that the young men of Prep can, in their turn, continue to go forth to transform the world and be men for others."

- Frank Barron '69

Opportunities for Growth

"Your support of Prep gives us the chance to live out of our dreams. Here, I’ve had the opportunity to learn from my teachers, play on the court, participate in multiple clubs, immerse myself in retreats, and participate in activities that broaden my view of the world – all while connecting with my brothers from 48 different cities and towns. How many 17-year-olds get to say all of that?"

- Will Kennedy '25

Building a Better World

“The education at Prep sets people up on a road that will make the world better. I think that’s what we’re ultimately looking for – a society we can all be proud of.”

- Bob '65 and Kathy Russo P'92, '03

An Engaged Faculty

“We go into this work to walk with our students in this very important stage of their lives. That’s the reward, that’s the gift – to be able to be with our students every day in the classroom, on the field, and everywhere in between. I am grateful for this community, which I know is my home.”

- Theology Teacher Kevin Kery '00
