SAT Class begins March 3 - Last Chance!

Guidance & College Advising

Sophomores will take Pre-ACT on Thurs. March 14

All sophomores will take the Pre-ACT on Thurs., Mar. 14. Sophomores were familiarized with the breakdown and timing of the test and were guided to practice activities to be done in preparation for taking the Pre-ACT. The testing day begins at 8:30 a.m. and will end around 12:00 p.m. Sophomores are to arrive at Prep at regular time and report to assigned rooms (information to follow), with two #2 pencils, a pen  and a calculator. Test results will assist students, families and counselors in determining whether they should take the SAT or the ACT to qualify for college admission.

Juniors – In our junior sessions we are building awareness of all aspects which factor into college admissions decisions. Our recent session focused on their activities history as students at Prep, and how it will assist in revealing their interests and talents to their colleges. Juniors were reintroduced to their resumes in Naviance and are encouraged to revise them as they become more involved in activities both on and off campus.  Additionally, juniors are encouraged to meet with their counselors to review their testing plans, report on colleges as they visit, and discuss course registration as needed.

Seniors – are encouraged to report college results as they receive them and check in on the growing list of scholarship opportunities posted in Naviance.  All seniors were sent an email directing them to the scholarship list and informed that their counselors are ready to assist with supporting documents as required by scholarship applications.

AP Exam Registration for Seniors

Seniors may register and pay for AP Exams now through March 8. Seniors are encouraged to consult with their teachers and counselors in making decisions about taking the AP Exams.

Weekly Lenten Reflections for FP Parents

The Adult Faith Formation team will be sponsoring a weekly Lenten Reflection each Friday of Lent. A reflection for Ash Wednesday which is this Wed, March 6, is posted here. On each Friday of Lent, beginning March 8, a link to the readings and a brief reflection written by different FP parents will be shared. As Ignatian Companions on this Lenten journey, we look forward to deepening our faith together.

Ignatian Companions: A Parent-to-Parent Evening of Reflection

Date: Tues., March 19

Time: 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Place: Student Life Center

Did you sent your son to Fairfield Prep because you want him to get into a good college? Because he needs the brotherhood of a single-sex school? To provide him with opportunities you never had? To encourage him to deepen his relationship with God in his faith tradition? To ensure that he becomes a well-rounded person?

Whatever your reason(s) for entrusting your son to us, nothing could have adequately prepared you for being the parent or guardian of an adolescent. As the adage goes: We Plan and God Laughs.

But, fear not! You are not alone with regard to life's surprises, frustrations, ups and downs, and unrealized expectations: You have companions on this journey. Four current and former Prep parents will comprise a panel that will share their "lessons learned" regarding adolescence and their sons' FP experiences, entitled: "My Kid is not Perfect. My Life is not Perfect. What Does this Say About Me? Where is God in This?"
