Fairfield Prep Investors

Fairfield Prep Investors (FPI) is one of the only real-money, student-managed investment funds among high schools in the United States.

By managing a portion of the school’s endowment, students gain a rare opportunity to apply classroom learning to real-world portfolio management.

FPI combines hands-on learning with real responsibility. Students research companies, analyze markets, pitch investment ideas, and make long-term decisions with real capital, not simulated dollars.

The club includes 26 dedicated student members who meet weekly to grow as thoughtful, disciplined investors. In addition to pursuing strong, risk-adjusted returns, FPI supports the Prep community through annual philanthropic distributions to important school priorities, including financial aid and scholarships.

Rooted in Fairfield Prep’s Jesuit mission, FPI uses the Ignatian model of Context, Experience, Reflection, and Action to guide its research and decision-making.

Mission Statement

Fairfield Prep Investors is a student-managed investment fund entrusted with managing a portion of Fairfield Prep’s endowment. Guided by faculty and alumni mentors, FPI forms students through real-world investment responsibility, developing competence, conscience, and disciplined judgment in service of Fairfield Prep’s Jesuit Catholic mission.

How We

Got Here

In 2024, Fairfield Prep students Luke Van Dussen ’24 (Notre Dame), Liam Coyne ’25 (Cornell), and Emmett Tolisano ’25 (Boston College) set out to build Fairfield Prep Investors from the ground up.

What followed was an 18-month entrepreneurial journey marked by persistence, problem-solving, active collaboration with school leadership, and the steady work of turning an audacious idea into a lasting institution at Fairfield Prep.

In May 2025, generous alumni provided $100,000 in seed capital to launch the fund. Since then, the portfolio has grown to more than $124,000*.
