Coach Bruce Jaffe is honored at Celebration Dinner
Almost 200 friends of Fairfield Prep Swimming & Diving gathered for a celebration to honor Coach Bruce Jaffe's retirement from coaching after 46 years. The Jesuits' 2011-12 Season was a perfect 12-0 record, winning the SCC, Class LL, State Open Championships, plus Coach of the Year. The event was held on June 12, 2012 at Vazzano's Four Seasons in Stratford.
Alumni traveled from far and wide to pay tribute to Coach Jaffe. The prorgam included an invocation by Rev. Charles Allen, S.J., Assistant to the President, Fairfield University and former Prep Headmaster, followed by presentations by: Rick Hutchinson '87, Assistant Coach and Master of Ceremonies; Rev. John Hanwell, S.J., Fairfield Prep President (who presented a proclamation by the Connecticut State Legislature); Jeanine Oburchay, Diving Coach; Franco Vigna '85: and Matt Connelly '12, Team Captain (who presented Coach Jaffe with his State Championship ring and who created a memorable video with Rick Hutchinson). All enjoyed a fun evening of reconnecting and reminiscing!
