Appalacian Trip volunteers help in Virginia communities
On June 18, thirty one students, accompanied by six faculty members, traveled to the Appalachian Region in Fries, VA and Rural Retreat, VA. During the week these students spent time working in the local communities. Some of their projects included painting houses, painting fences, cleaning up the town baseball field, and reconstructing porches. Although the physical labor was a large part of the experience, the most important aspect of the trip was the relationships the students were able to build with the members of the Rural Retreat and Fries communities.
