Guidelines for Spectator Behavior

Spectators at athletic events are always welcome and are considered to be an important, supportive component of the athletic program. Student-athletes from both teams should expect and receive respect and support from spectators, regardless of the spectators’ affiliation with the student-athlete or the school. Proper behavior on the part of spectators is always appreciated and provides a good behavior model forall in attendance at an athletic event.

To assure that student-athletes are not distracted by or discouraged by spectator behavior at home and / or away games, any spectator using or shouting inappropriate or abusive language will be removed from the sports activity venue and may be charged with disorderly conduct. Additionally, if groups of student or adult spectators shout profanities or use abusive language, the Director of Athletics or his designee will announce to the spectators, or direct the Site Director to announce that continued inappropriate behavior or verbal and/or gestural abuse will cause the game to be halted and possibly ended.

Any spectator committing a physical or verbal action that in any way could affect the safety of players or other spectators will be removed from the sports facility/venue and will be charged with disorderly conduct. This restriction applies to rental facilities such as ice rinks and contests played away from Fairfield Prep.

An important announcement for spectators at Prep home events

The University has declared that Leeber Road, the road that accesses the following athletic venues, including Alumni Field, Lessing Field, University Field, Alumni Diamond and the Walsh Athletic Center is now designated as a NO PARKING ZONE. All spectator parking is limited to designated parking lots, including the Walsh Center lot, the Kelly Lot, the Dolan lot, the Alumni Hall lot, the Prep upper and lower lots and any other parking lot area on campus. Pedestrian walkways will now run the length of Leeber Road, thus eliminating the spectator parking.

We ask your cooperation in adhering to this new University policy.

Varsity Football Spectator Guidelines

No containers, open or sealed, may be brought into the Alumni Field area.

Bags, Backpacks, etc. are strongly discouraged and are subject to inspection by event staff personnel.

There is no a re-admission policy.  Once you leave the field area, you will not be re-admitted without purchasing a new ticket.

Prep Shows Emotion In First Preseason Scrimmage

Coach Tom Shea likes the Jesuits' energy level and effort

To no one's suprise, there was no love lost between the two Fairfield town rivals, as Warde and the visiting Jesuits collided with fury and jawed aplenty during the afternoon when temperatures soared above 90 degrees. The Jesuits, who have a new coach in Tom Shea following last season's 0-10 campaign, exhibited plenty of passion from the first play onward.

Prep senior captain quarterback CJ Donohue rolled out smoothly on several occasions to gain positive yardage, while fellow captain and senior tailback Kyle Vignone juked a slew of Mustangs to reach pay dirt near the end of the Jesuits' 15-play offensive set versus McMahon.

"We're not where we need to be or want to be, but we're getting there," Vignone said. "We're focused and we're working every time we take the field, and coach is really pushing us hard out there. "We're improving every time we practice, and today it was good to get out there against another couple of teams to see what we could do."

Shea applauded certain areas while stressing there remains much work to be done. "We clearly have a long ways to go, but we showed some good things today," he said. "Execution-wise, we have to be a lot sharper. At the same time, the energy and the effort level was high."

St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation, which sponsors the charity swim event, reports the event is expected to raise a record $400,000 -- roughly $50,000 more than the marathon brought in last year for cancer-related expenses that conventional health care plans don't cover. Proceeds from Swim Across the Sound pay for cancer patients' transportation expenses getting to chemotherapy and doctors' appointments, mortgage and utility bills when savings are exhausted, as well as wigs, wheelchairs, mammography and other cancer screening for the uninsured and underinsured.
