Guidance Curriculum
Fairfield Prep offers a specific guidance program for each class year which is
designed to meet the needs of students in that particular stage of development.
Counselor assignments are arranged by alphabet and by class.
Students in freshman/sophomore years are counseled by Dina Cyfeku who guides
students with last names beginning with letters A - K, and Lynne Chesbro, who
guides students with last names ranging from letters L - Z. Freshman and
Sophomore guidance seminars meet once each cycle for the entire academic year.
Juniors and seniors are advised in the same pattern by Rick Hutchinson, A - K and
John Hanrahan, L - Z. Junior guidance seminars meet for half of the first
semester and half of the second semester, with the remainder of the available time
set aside for individual meetings. Senior guidance seminars meet for four
academic cycles in the first semester and for two academic cycles in the second
semester with the remainder of the time set aside for individual planning.
Counselors for each grouping conduct Guidance Seminars which meet once
during each academic cycle, in small groups. Guidance groups are set up by
classification and topics for discussion, targeting those issues which affect students at
each academic level and level of personal development.
