Guidance & College Advising

Welcome to Prep's Guidance Program

The overall objective of the programs of Fairfield Prep's Guidance Department is to anticipate the needs of our students in regard to personal and academic growth and to address them in group sessions and through individual meetings.  Transitioning to high school, academic counseling, drug and alcohol education, sexual responsibility, course selection, academic planning and college and career advising are all essential topics for guidance discussions. Guidance classes are planned to help meet the academic and personal needs of students at each level, freshman through senior.  Students meet in small group settings which allow for fuller interaction and greater freedom in discussion as topics are presented to meet needs which characterize each stage of student development.

Counselors monitor each student's personal growth as the department establishes itself as an important part of each student's support system.  Counselors encourage students to stretch themselves in seeking personal and academic growth and in accepting challenges as they move through their high school years. Guidance Department objectives are entirely consistent with the mission of the school as they support the positive personal growth of each student and cooperate with the initiatives of academic departments, and chaplaincy in doing so. Guidance efforts over a four year period intend to support student growth toward the Graduate at Graduation as outlined in Prep's mission statement.
