Fairfield Prep Alumni Ruggers participated in the 22nd Annual Nutmeg State games in New Britain, CT on July 25, 2010. The Nutmeg State Games is the largest multisport festival of Olympic-style competition for amateur athletes. Rugby is one of the 26 different sports played by over 6000 competing athletes. The "Games" are endorsed by the Governor's Committee on Physical Fitness & Health, governed by the National Congress of State Games, and recognized by the U.S. Olympic Committee.
The "Jesuit Ruggers" knocked off Fairfield United in an all-Fairfield final to claim the Gold Medal at Osgood Park in New Britain, CT. The Jesuit Ruggers won both of their round robin games as well. Rugby team returns from California tour
The Prep rugby team compiled a 2 and 1 record on its recent northern California tour. Prep won against Elsie Allen HS (31-17) of Santa Rosa, Cal. and San Francisco Golden Gate U-19 (38 -22). The Prepter's lost to reigning national champion and number one rated Jesuit of Sacramento (54 -26).
