Boughton Academic Center & Library
Situated on the second floor of Arrupe Hall with an inspiring view of Long Island Sound, the Boughton Academic Center & Library offers Prep students an inviting, comfortable venue for research, study, homework completion and more.
The mission of the Fairfield College Preparatory School Library Services program is to assist students in the development of their pursuit of becoming life long learners. The goal of the program and its staff is to ensure that students and faculty are effective and confident users of ideas and information. Materials for the Library are selected to support the curriculum of the school and the goals of the Fairfield College Preparatory School’s Mission Statement.
The Boughton Academic Center & Library is open 8:00am - 4:00pm on days when school is in session.
With twenty-eight computer workstations and sixteen tablet PC's devoted to research, Prep students have ready access to the Internet. By means of their campuswide computer accounts, and any computer with an Internet connection, Prep students can also access the powerful array of research databases subscribed to by Fairfield Prep twenty-four hours a day. The Prep community can access our online catalog while on campus only.
A substantial collection of reference works is available. Although a Prep student will find that most of his research needs are easily met in the Boughton Academic Center & Library, he may also access the 370,000 volumes of Fairfield University's outstanding Dimenna-Nyselius Library, located on campus.
Seventy-eight study carrels are available for use throughout the day.
National Honor Society members are required to serve as peer tutors. Overseen in this role by the Director of Student Activities, peer tutors are available by request.
FAIRFIELD UNIVERSITY INTERNS
Each semester a group of Fairfield University seniors is assigned to the Boughton Academic Center & Library to complete their internship. Under the direction of the Director of Student Activities, the interns are available to assist Prep students with time management, organizational skills, discipline-specific tutoring, etc.
