Class of '63 Celebrate Golden Weekend
The Class of 1963 gathered for an activity-filled reunion on the weekend of May 31-June 2. Over 30 members of the class in addition to their spouses and guests returned to campus to reminisce with good friends and fondly recall their days at Prep. See news, photos and video.
Alumni of All Ages Reconnect at Reunion Weekend
Approximately 300 alumni and guests attended the Fairfield Prep reunion for classes ending in 3 and 8 on the weekend of June 14. Activities included the Alumni Jam on Friday night, followed on Saturday by a Young Alumni softball game, reunion Mass, and class cocktail reception and dinner, all on the campus of Fairfield University. Prep Golf Outing a Hole in One
107 Prep alumni and friends enjoyed an early summer round of golf on June 14 at Great River Golf Club in Milford, CT. The day consisted of friendly competition, good laughs and great Prep camaraderie. Proceeds from the event support the Roger L. Ratchford, Ed.D. '51 Financial Aid Fund, named in honor of Prep's long time golf coach and faculty member. See news and photos.
Chicago Alumni Gather for Windy City Reception
The Chicago alumni chapter held its annual cocktail reception at Public House in downtown Chicago on June 18. Prep’s President, Fr. Jack Hanwell, S.J., welcomed an enthusiastic group of alumni to socialize and to hear the latest happenings from back on campus. See photos. Prep athletics recently completed a very successful spring season! The lacrosse team finished undefeated in state play (12-3 overall) and won their 2nd straight state championship (6th state title in 8 years!). On the diamond, Prep baseball finished the regular season with a record of 14-6 and reached the state semifinals. Prep tennis served an ace with a 12-6 record. Distance runner Christian Alvarado '14 ranked #1 at the Class LL, State Open and New England regional championships in track and field. The rugby team had another strong spring and finished 2nd in the state tournament. The golf team earned a 4th place finish in the Division I State Championship. See teams & schedules.
So You Think You Can BrainDance?
Matthew Freed '15 and Victor Riccio '15 received awards at the 10th annual BrainDance Award ceremony in the mixed-media category. The competition, sponsored by the Institute of Living at Hartford Hospital, is designed to increase the awareness of mental illness and to decrease the stigma associated with mental illness. As the 1996-97 school year drew to a close it was announced that four stalwarts of the Prep faculty had decided to retire. What are their names? First to answer correctly wins a Prep Pride gift! Email Rory Bernier '06, Director of Alumni Relations, with your answer. Last edition's trivia question: Name the Prep alumnus who overcame the misfortune of losing his leg to cancer and became a spokesperson and fundraiser in the battle to defeat the disease. His "Swim Across the Sound," and his "Run Across America," were major elements in this fund-raising effort. The correct answer is Jeff Keith '80. Congraulations to Mike Morton '07 for being the first to respond correctly.
